Mutharika's lies put the integrity of his academic titles to shame
Malawi's President, Peter Mutharika

Malawi’s President, Professor Mutharika is not just a lawyer, but a Doctor of the science of Law. It makes his false claims that ‘calling the President a liar is unlawful’ all the more strange. It means he is educated but not learned, or vice versa, but never both.

“To call the president a liar is violation of law. He is pushing me to arrest him so that he can become a martyr. I am not going to bite that bait.” – Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika JSD.

Ladies and gentlemen, the title JSD refers to Juridicae Scientiae Doctor (read as Doctor of the Science of Law). In simple terms, the State President, Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, is a Doctor of Laws.

However, his remark, that calling a President a liar is violation of law, resonates a strange quote.

As a law professor, he knows the importance of justifying such assertions with the relevant statute to seal any doubt off.

He deliberately delivered that claim in its naked form without citation backup believing that it is a sentiment that would be listened to by people who have not read the law while gambling that those who have read the law would not bother to hold that claim accountable to veracity.

Being both a State President and professor of law, he pretty much knows that there is no such crime in the books of Malawi that comes at calling the President a liar.

The President simply lied on that – and that ladies and gentle is, yet, a deeper proof that our President is a pathological liar.

Again, he has inputted that by arresting the Leader of Opposition, then the latter would become a “martyr”.

A martyr is described as someone who suffers persecution AND death for advocating, renouncing, refusing to renounce, or refusing to advocate a belief or cause as demanded by an external party.

Other definitions are straight to the point by saying that a martyr is a person who is killed because of their religious or other beliefs.

How come then did the President think that by arresting someone they would become a martyr?

Doesn’t that qualify him as the rightful candidate to visit Bwaila Hospital to where he recommended the Leader of Opposition to go for head check-up?

I have come to a safe conclusion that some people really put their academic qualifications to shame by their levels and fashion of thinking and action. I rest my case!
