Harare – Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information, Simon Khaya Moyo has announced that the country’s Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been relieved from his duties, and fired from government.
It was widely thought that Mugabe would fire Mnangagwa earlier at 14:00 this afternoon.
Khuluma Afrika confirmed earlier that this morning all provinces had been instructed to pass votes of no confidence against Mnangagwa.
The axing had been delayed briefly after Zimbabwe’s Military elites had boycotted a security services meeting, and demanded that Mugabe abandon his plans.
Analysts had told Khuluma that Mugabe had long broke ranks with the army and therefore would still attempt to try and fire the VP.
On Saturday Mugabe promised and threatened to fire Mnangagwa. While his wife Grace went on an all out assault the following day while addressing thousands of supporters.
