Chiwenga warns Zanu PF against purging liberation icons, says army will not hesitate to intervene

The Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, General Constantino Dominic Guveya Chiwenga has warned politicians in the ruling Zanu-PF party to stop purging heroes of the Second Chimurenga liberation war.

The general added that should they not heed the warning the country’s military may be forced to step in.

General Chiwenga also warned the politicians to stop denigrating the military and security services.

This comes after President Robert Mugabe fired his deputy and longtime aide, former vice-president Emmerson Mnangagwa last week.
