Army announces end of operations restore legacy, returns to barracks

The Zimbabwe Defence and Security Services says Operation Restore Legacy has come to an end.

Addressing a press conference at Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks this morning, Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army Lieutenant General Philip Valerio Sibanda said Operation Restore Legacy has achieved its purpose to apprehend criminals around the former president and there is now change of guard in the country’s leadership.

Lieutenant General Sibanda, flanked by other members of the security services, also revealed that police have returned to their normal law enforcement duties.

The Commander ZNA said some of the criminals who were targeted skipped the country and are bad-mouthing the country. He added that they must be ignored.

He urged Zimbabweans to remain united and peaceful as the country prepares for the 2018 harmonised elections.
