Harare – Former President Robert Mugabe’s son-in-law, and husband to Bona Mugabe, Mr Simba Chikore was arrested last night in the country’s capital.
Chikore was taken into custody at Highlands Police Station after his laywer opened a case of kidnapping against him.
Chikore is believed to have had a dispute with his laywer, whom he proceeded to illegally detain.
Police spokersperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba was engaged in long meetings but promised to revert back to Khuluma Afrika with details of the case.
“I am in a long meeting but when it finishes i will call you back” she told Khuluma Afrika reporters.
A report carried by public owned but state operated newspaper The Herald did however confirm the arrest.
“He was picked up today (yesterday) and a warned and cautioned statement was recorded following a report by his lawyer for kidnapping,” she told the Herald.
She said by last night Chikore was still assisting police with investigations at Highlands Police Station who were still gathering details of the case.
Charamba told the Herald that information they had gathered so far was that Chikore was having labour disputes with his lawyer.
